Ministries Religious Education Forms 2011-2012
Religious Education
Religious Education at Holy Cross embraces lifelong formation. Lifelong
formation recognizes that we continue to learn about our faith in all stages of
life. We offer programs for elementary (Pre-K– 5th grade, middle school (6th
-8th grade) high school (9th -12th grade ) and adult education.
Pre-K thru 5th
grade – Registration is required. We use a bilingual textbook, classes are
taught in English, resource for parents are in both English and Spanish. Sunday:

This session is for
the children / youth (and their parents) in grades 3rd through 12th who have
completed one year of Religious Education and are in need of Reconciliation and
Communion preparation. Meets first Sunday of the month from 11:30am-12:45pm.

EDGE is a
total youth ministry program (Educational, Spiritual, Social and Current Issues)
that reaches out to middle school youth through interactive teaching and
activities. Sessions are held in English with Spanish support for parents. Edge
meets on Sunday afternoons from 3:45pm- 5:15pm followed by the Youth Mass at
5:30pm. Registration is through the Religious Education Office. We always

Life
Teen is a total youth ministry program consisting of the eight components of
Youth Ministry: Advocacy, Catechesis, Community life, Evangelization, Justice
and Service, Leadership Development, Pastoral Care, Prayer and Worship. Life
Nights take place on Sunday night beginning with the 5:30pm youth Mass followed
by dinner and an Educational, Issue or Social session from 6:30pm – 8:15pm. Life
Teen also meets regularly on Tuesday night (6:30pm-7:30pm) where they go deeper
into the faith by studying scripture, attending Mass together, prayer, or other
activities that help teens grow in their faith. Service Projects and day
retreats are also part of the Life Teen program. Sessions are held in English
with Spanish support for parents. Registration is through the Religious

A Children’s summer program for
children ages 4 through grade 6. It takes place for one week during the summer
and invites the children to learn about cultures, song and food from countries
around the world that replicate much of our church population. The program
culminates with a special Sunday mass that has many of the children singing

Adult Education
We offer a variety of classes and programs that range in scope from the
teaching of the faith to enrichment programs that enhance how one lives their
Catholic faith in the world today.

Breaks open the readings for

This is a class
for adults who have been baptized, made reconciliation and first communion, but

Our Christian faith and Biblical
tradition extend an extraordinary invitation to each of us and our faith
communities to become agents of God’s compassion and healing in a wounded world.
JustFaith® offers an opportunity for people of faith to experience this
spiritual journey into compassionate discipleship. JustFaith is a thirty
week educational experience, a formation process and a spiritual journey.
Throughout the thirty weeks, participants gather weekly for prayer, discussion
of books and videos, presentations by guest speakers, retreats, and immersion

Round-table
discussions and DVD presentation by Jeff Cavins. This is an annual series
of classes. 2011-2012 study includes a 20-week study of the book of ACTS,
followed by an 8-week Quick Journey Through the Bible. Thursday evenings,

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is a program for those who are
interested in learning more about the Catholic faith and are considering
becoming Catholic. Participants are those who are not baptized or those who are
baptized in the Catholic faith or another Christian denomination but have not
received First Eucharist and Confirmation. Classes begin in September and meet
on Sundays. Participants who choose to become Catholic are received into the
Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil Liturgy. English sessions

Open to all young adults
(English and Spanish) 18 (and out of high school) thru early 30’s. Our objective
as a group is to enrich our faith in God by promoting our faith through music,
activities and sharing of our stories. Group meets on Saturday night following
the 6:30pm Mass in room 9 & 10 of the Educational building. Contacts: Daniela

Houses valuable reference materials
and continues to add new books yearly. It is a quiet, pleasant atmosphere to

Married couples are trained
to work with engaged couples in marriage preparation. The engaged couple meets
in the home of the Sponsor Couple for five (5) evenings. The success of this
program is the one-on-one sharing that allows the married couple to address the
