· Pastor’s Comments – The first email newsletter went out today to over 500 email addresses. Everyone agreed that it looked terrific. Angie to get updated email addresses for Hispanic community. Fr. Patrick indicated that all email requests for information to go in the newsletter were to go through Theresa O’Donnell, and she will bring them to Fr. Patrick for final approval.
· Distribution and Approval of Minutes – Minutes from the January meeting were distributed and reviewed. Motion to approve the minutes was seconded. Minutes approved.
· Old Business – Kris and Gabriela to follow up on cost of confirmation training. Per the finance committee, there is room in the budget for the church to supplement some of the cost, depending on the total amount. Kris to talk with Judy Aust and Sr. Pilar about the program. Kathy indicated that she had checked into using calling post and it is approximately 5 – 7 cents per call. Kathy to check on costs to open an account. Sam indicated that the A/C has been fixed in the Education building.
· Committee Reports – Helen reported for Worship and Spiritual Growth that training for Eucharistic Ministers will take place on March 8th. High school students are invited to participate as long as they are at least 16 and confirmed. Education reported that Rich will stay on as Youth Minister until May. The issue of whether the position should continue to be two part-time people versus one full time person was discussed. It was agreed that having 2 part-time people is a better solution for Holy Cross. Kris suggested advertising for a replacement at the Catholic Centers at the local universities. Parish Life and Human Concerns had no report. For Stewardship, Fr. Patrick encouraged everyone to pass the word that we need to continue maximizing financial giving to the church. Angie reported that the Hispanic community is forming a new Women’s Club. There will also be a meeting of the Hispanic ministry leaders on February 16th. Sr. Carmen and Fr. Arturo will run the meeting. On the last Wednesday of each month, Yvonne and Angie will also meet with Sr. Carmen and Fr. Arturo about Hispanic concerns, so that they can be properly communicated at the next Parish Council meeting.
· Soccer Team – Fr. Patrick announced that the church is sponsoring a soccer team through the Silverbacks organization for young men in their 20’s. The team will consist of both Hispanic and Anglo players. They are looking for a coach. The team name is the Holy Cross Chihuahuas. A suggestion was made to have soccer shirts printed up like the players wear and sell them as a fund raiser for the church. With the number of families at Holy Cross involved in soccer, many people would purchase them for their children.
· Next Meeting – Our next meeting is scheduled for March 11, 2008.
Meeting was adjourned with a prayer.
Respectfully Submitted, Kris Chatfield
