Holy Cross Pastoral Council Minutes

March 8, 2011

Present:  Fr. Richard, Kris Chatfield, Donald Cirino, Joan Ford, Pat Reiley, Jim Miles, Donovan McGee, Carole Kissel, Mercedes Arancibia, Tom Probst, Mark Galvin and Theresa O’Donnell.  Not Present: Jan Arias

The meeting was opened with a prayer.

· Review of Minutes – Minutes from the February meeting were discussed and additional comments added with regard to church unity concerns.  Kris volunteered to rewrite the minutes for publication on the website.

· Pastor’s Comments – Fr. Richard indicated that all locks in the building were being changed and new keys made.  Doors will be locked in all areas with the exception of the office during regular office hours.  Too many people are wandering around the building during the day and too many people currently have keys to the building.  People that need a key will need to see Monique in the office to borrow one, or have a new one issued.  Father announced that we have a new youth minister.  Bill will be leaving to spend more time with his family.  The flooring in the large classroom has been replaced due to damage from the leak in the roof.  The carpet has been removed and hard flooring put down.  This should prevent any future damage.  There is currently a problem with the boiler that is being addressed.

· Ministry Retreat/Contact Information – Monique is working on updating the ministry listing with correct contact information.  Donovan is working on assigning Pastoral Council members as liaisons to the ministry leaders, but will wait to finalize this until the ministry list is updated.  Discussion regarding a retreat for ministry leaders took place.  After looking at potential dates it was agreed that the retreat should take place in August.  Kris indicated that Paul Montello had run a retreat at Holy Cross some years back.  Donovan will contact Paul to discuss.  Mark Galvin volunteered to give Donovan notes from a past retreat that he attended.  Pat will contact Barb Garvin regarding Archdiocesan resources.

· Pentecost Potluck – There will be a potluck dinner sponsored by the Pastoral Council following the 5:00 Vigil Mass on Pentecost weekend.  The Mass will be bi-lingual.  Gina Burke has offered to assist with planning.  Pat will coordinate with Gina and Louanne Bachner.  Donovan offered to bring up the dinner at the next Knights of Columbus meeting to see if the Knights would be willing to help as well.

· Next Meeting – Our next meeting is scheduled for April 12, 2011 following the Parish Penance Service (approx. 7:45pm).
